No Tolls. No Light Rail
The Columbia River Crossing Committee is rushing ahead on a course to toll the I-5 and I-205 bridges without an election to build a $1 billion ($945.75 Million) Light Rail bridge to downtown Vancouver.
As our economy suffers the consequences of out of control spending, these big spending politicians and bureaucrats have already spent $100,000,000 on this plan to borrow additional billions when we cannot balance our current budgets. They plan to turn Hayden Island into a multilayer complex of toll bridge tentacles as shown above. Construction taking 5 to 7 years does not include widening the I-5 bottleneck south of the bridge.
We can now appreciate the 205 bridge that was built in 1983 for a total cost of $175 million as a freeway without tolls. How many 205 bridges could $4.2 billion build? We need to stop this colossal waste before it is too late. Edmund Burke said “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” Tolling the I-5 and I-205 bridges and the devastating debt for such a wasteful project would seriously hurt our communities. Please read on and join the effort to turn this around.
