The Oregon Senate passed House Bill 2931 to advance tolling of the Interstate-5 replacement bridge.
We have seen toll estimates as high as $8.00 to cross the bridge.
House Bill 2931 explanation reads “The measure establishes the Interstate 5 Bridge Toll Account for construction of the project and outlines uses of moneys in that Account. The measure clarifies statutes related to collection of tolls and authorizes the Department of Transportation to impose civil penalties for failure to pay imposed tolls and allows ODOT to enter into agreements with other governments and units of state government to enforce payment of tolls.”
Here is how the vote went down in the Senate on House Bill 2931:

And do not forget that tolling is also used by politicians to punish people for driving and pressure people from using automobiles.
Don’t forget, Portland spent $134 million on this bridge, where no cars were allowed to use it.
